It was around December when I randomly started to research about the concepts behind food, particularly the health aspect on food. Up until now, my interest in health remains while still allowing myself to eat what I want. Food makes me happy and life is too short to not eat what you want.
A lot of my family members on my mother's side are either overweight or have health problems. I was aware of this but it was only around December of last year when I started to look at food differently and have a new outlook on food and health. When I was in high school, I wanted to be a pharmacist because I cared about other people's health and now, I the interest has reappeared in a different way - through food.
Recently, I have been focusing on eating whole foods in their natural state and food that is not processed. Basically, if it's a single ingredient then I support it. I still eat processed foods but when I do, I try to look at the ingredient list to see what's in the food and to eat single ingredient processed food (i.e. corn, beans, etc.). There's a lot of views and opinions of food and different diets out there. If you want to lose weight, that's fine but I'm about having a high quality of life and ensuring my long-term health is good and vital than physical appearances.
Every now and then, I like to have chips because chips are life. Eat what you want and eat what makes you happy. Focus on real food and don't deprive yourself of any nutrients and vitamins; most importantly, be healthy and enjoy what you eat!
